Kamala Harris
Kamala Devi Harris was born on October 20 1964. She is an American politician. She is the first woman to hold the vice presidency and the highest-ranking female official in U.S history. As a member of the Democratic Party, she was the attorney general of California from 2011 to 2017 and an United States senator representing California in 2017-2021. Born in Oakland, California, Harris graduated from Howard University and the University of California, Hastings College of the Law. Following her first job as an Alameda County District Attorney Harris was recruited to San Francisco District Attorney's Office. Then she was appointed the City Attorney of San Francisco. In 2003 she was appointed district attorney for San Francisco. In 2010, Harris was appointed Attorney General for California. Harris was elected again in 2014. Harris was the junior United States Senator from California between 2017 to 2021. Harris beat Loretta Sánchez during the 2016 Senate elections, becoming the second African American woman, and the first South Asian American, to be a senator in the United States Senate. She was a senator and was a vocal advocate for reforms to healthcare and federal cannabis de-scheduling. She also advocated for the possibility of citizenship for immigrants who are not legally documented, the DREAM Act, a ban against assault weapons and progressive tax reform. Her name is well-known due to the direct questioning she conducted of Trump government officials in Senate hearings.
