Barbara Ann Corcoran

 Barbara Ann Corcoran was a businesswoman, investor and speaker from the United States. In 2001, she established The Corcoran Group in New York City. She later sold the business to NRT for $66 million. In the following months, she exited from the business. Corcoran was one of ABC's initial Shark investors has been part of each episode of Shark Tank. As of February 2020, she has made 53 deals with the show, the largest being a $350,000 investment in 40 percent of Coverplay. Corcoran was the second of 10 children from a working-class Irish-Catholic family was born in Edgewater in New Jersey. Florence Corcoran was Florence's mother and also a housekeeper. Edwin W. Corcoran Jr. was her father through Corcoran’s childhood. In times, her family relied on the delivery of food for free from a local grocer. Corcoran remembers her father as one who sometimes was a drinker and was rude to her mother and condescension, particularly when he'd been drinking. Corcoran was a struggling student in school. Later, she discovered she had dyslexia. Corcoran went to a Catholic primary school within her area and started high school at St. Cecilia High School, Englewood. Corcoran graduated from Leonia High School with a diploma in English, despite having failed several classes during her first year of high school.
